Kira Boyd, is the CEO and Clinic Director of Synergy Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine. She has over 19 years of clinical experience as a PT and specializes in Women’s and Men’s Health, Pelvic Floor/Abdominal Rehab, Sports Medicine and Orthopedic PT. Additionally she has over a decade of PT private practice management experience and has started and grown 2 successful outpatient private practices in Jacksonville, NC.

Kira has worked with patients of all ages, as well as competitive athletes at the middle school, high school, collegiate and professional levels. She served as a student athletic trainer at both the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and The University of Miami. She began her professional PT career in 2000 in New York City and relocated back to eastern NC in 2002.

Kira has a passion for treating all musculoskeletal conditions and focuses on utilizing skilled hands on manual therapy techniques, prescriptive exercises and patient education strategies. She has a special interest and advanced expertise in providing holistic treatment for complex pelvic and abdominal pain conditions, bowel and bladder dysfunction, pelvic organ prolapse, diastasis recti and breast cancer treatment related scar tissue and shoulder mobility concerns.

She has completed extensive post graduate training including multiple courses through the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute such as Pelvic Floor Level 1, 2A/2B & Capstone, and Male Pelvic Floor Function, Dysfunction and Treatment. She has also completed training in Visceral Mobilization, Strain/Counterstrain, Maitland Spinal and Extremity mobilization, the Mulligan technique, the McKenzie Method, the Selective Functional Movement Assessment, Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy Techniques, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, and Kinesiology taping.

Kira and her husband, John Boyd, Jr, Synergy’s Business Manger are the founding partners and co-owners of Synergy. They are proud parents to 2 children, Beau and Caroline. Outside of her professional roles Kira enjoys travel, fishing, boating, weight lifting, tennis, golf, attending sporting events, and being active with her family.

Kira graduated from Jacksonville High School and spent many years of her childhood in Jacksonville, NC due to her father’s 28 year career in the USMC. She is proud of her family’s military history which includes 3 generations of Marines (grandfather, father, brother), an uncle who graduated from the USNA and was a submariner, a grandfather who was active duty USN and a cousin on her husband’s side who is a USN Seal. She feels privileged to treat and serve the military community in eastern NC and strongly believes in giving back to the Onslow County community.
